砺波图书馆是一所位于日本富山县砺波市（Tonami）的公共图书馆。图书馆在结合当地特色的同时，为人们提供聚会休闲的场所。为了达成这一构想，三上建筑事务所采用了“巨大屋面下的一居室图书馆”的设计理念。这个曾经是粮仓区的砺波平原，传承着被称作“散居村落"的美丽乡村风光。于是，三上建筑事务所以当地的传统主屋 “AZUMADACHI”的外观为主题，构思了图书馆的大屋顶外观。内饰则采用了砺波市市花郁金香的鲜艳色彩。

It is a public library in Tonami City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. In combination with the local characteristics, it provides people with gathering and leisure places. In order to achieve this idea, we adopted the design concept of“The One-Roomed Library Under the Big Roof”. Tonami plain, once a granary area, inherits the beautiful rural scenery known as "scattered villages". Taking the appearance of the local traditional main house "azumadachi" as the theme, we conceived the appearance of the library's big roof. The interior decoration adopts the bright color of tulip, the flower of Tonami city.

事务所将建筑的正面向西而建，与主干道形成地标性表达。为了防止书籍纸张变黄劣化，有必要尽量防止西边的阳光直接照进馆内。事务所模拟西方日照情况，对屋檐的高度进行了多次试验调整，最终确定了现在由高到低的缓坡式的屋顶形状。

We built the front of the building towards the west to form a landmark expression with the main road. In order to prevent the book paper from yellowing and deterioration, it is necessary to prevent the Western sunlight from directly shining into the library. We simulated the sunshine in the west, adjusted the height of the eaves for many times, and finally determined the gentle slope roof shape from high to low.

西侧种植的树种亦是经过了精挑细选。根据季节的不同，树木为整个设施营造出不同氛围的外观，同时还有着遮挡西晒的效果。

The trees planted on the west side have also been carefully selected. According to the different seasons, trees create different atmosphere appearance for the whole facility, and also have the effect of blocking the Western sunlight.

为了打造“一居室”的室内空间效果，三上建筑事务所采用了钢桁架梁来尽量减少支柱的数量。由于屋面是一个立体的曲面，其内部每一段的梁的形状都不相同。三上建筑事务所一边通过三维CAD精确测量每个零件的高度，一边进行了施工。

In order to create the indoor space effect of "one room", we use steel truss beam to minimize the number of pillars. Because the roof is a steric curved surface, the shape of each section of the beam inside is different. While we accurately measure the height of each part through 3D CAD, we carried out the construction.
