南港旧庄为文山包种茶之发源地，最初在清朝时期被引进，进而带动南港经济，在二战后却逐渐没落，取而代之的是轻工业，后来包种茶虽传到周围的石碇坪林等地区，南港却因人力不足，茶园缩减等原因，南港茶产业逐渐萧条，欲利用当地自然生态优势及茶文化历史，多元发展带动当地发展及茶文化的传承。
