Located in the city of Valencia, the Lemon tree house is an exercise in understanding the Mediterranean light, typical of its physical and cultural context.

The house embraces the ancestral mechanism of the Mediterranean courtyard, confined and defined by whitewashed walls that overflow with light, to relate to the climate and introduce it into the interiors and into the experience of inhabiting the space.

In this way, light flows through the courtyard´s walls, making the flow of time visible through the sustained movement of the shadows during the day.

The house aims to be a timeless place, where the pace of contemporary life, full of information, notifications, etc., slows down. In this sense, the attitude towards the project is to limit the actions to the essential.
The spatiality of the project is defined by a single core piece that on the ground floor organizes all the functions (structure, storage, restroom, staircase) without the need for divisions, allowing the floor plan to flow.

The materiality is a deliberate exercise in simplification that allows for a focused project. Noise is reduced to draw attention to light and the flow of time. The materials are only three: stone, glass and wood.

All project decisions have to do with the experience of inhabiting. The openings are placed thinking of experiencing the pace of time through the movement of light and shadows, the layout takes into account the paths and the interconnection between spaces, and the cross ventilation introduces the soft breeze of Valencia in all rooms. The house is based on a haptic design.
