The project team devises an appropriate Education andR&D-driven low carbon TOD mode for Hangzhou West Lake University Station atthe foot of Fangshan Mountain and in relevant proximity to Alibaba-campus. Italso aimed to  contribute to theaccomplishment of the ‘City with the Metro’ and further progress on low carbontraffic-efficiency for the overall benefit of Hangzhou.

设计团队提出通过结合方山公园的生态价值与西湖大学的策源价值以及头部企业的产业价值，抓住轨道交通发展契机、聚焦策源引领，构建中国典范、杭州特色的高能级科研创新TOD空间。

The design teams's objective is toestablish a Hangzhou-featured Chinese style supreme level TOD, which is drivenby Education and R&D-functions and takes benefit from the ecologicalqualities of Fangshan Mountain, the academic resource from West Lake Universityand the industrial benefit from top enterprises.

设计团队利用西湖大学与站前广场至方山的空间轴线与视线联系，建立“谷城”的空间秩序，构筑城市与自然和谐交融的城景轴线，建立承前启后、望山达水、链接自然的未来创新社区。依托轨道交通激发西湖大学研创智慧片区的活力，联动区域产业关系，实现产城人聚的TOD模式新典范。

Design team takes advantage of the spatial andvisual connection between the West Lake University and Fangshan Mountain tocreate an ‘Urban-valley’ spatial order. The metro system around allows dynamicactivities in the West Lake University area whilst attracts more people andcompanies gathering here and creating a new education-driven model ofhigh-class TOD.

Design team proposed three strategies toexert resource benefits, promote the agglomeration of factors, and maximize thevalue of the site hub.

策略一：聚核赋能，产业汇聚。以优势锚定站位，蓄势未来。

1.   Gathering the enterprises from core industries.

利用多条轨道交通线路为片区赋能，通过四站联动构建西湖大学产学研融合TOD片区，结合站点开发时序，实现对创新型企业全生命周期的服务。

Leveraging the potential ofthe metro lines to empower the area. The surrounding four stations are woventogether to build up an industry-university-research integration TOD area inWest Lake University and to achieve the service of the whole life cycle ofinnovative enterprises.

策略二：空间重构，城景交融。以价值规划格局, 丰盈未来。

1.   Reforming the spatial frame.

以西湖大学站至方山的空间轴线，建立“智谷”的空间秩序，耦合良渚先民的占星观象文化，延承历史，构筑城市与山水的和谐交融。

The station, the mountain and theuniversity form an energy-generating network that can be traced by physicalline and evokes a spatial order of an ‘Urban-valley’. This relationship builtup positive interaction with the Solar Observation Axis of the historicLiangzhu ancestors. This spatial relation inherits history and is a meaningfulharmonious integration of the city and nature.

策略三：人本活力，生活意趣。以场景彰显特色，迎向未来。

1.   Stimulating daily activities

面向创新人群的需求，提供服务科学家与创业者“复合城谷”的生活与科创场景。

The TOD area will be a livable and hi-techplace which will meet all the demands from scientists and entrepreneurs.

在绿水青山之间，一座山水创新城，熠熠生长。轻盈的流线勾勒出独具标识性的“绿色城谷”营造出“山水谷间”的自然意境。

In between the mountains and rivers, ascenic innovative new town is under growth. The flowing outline shapes a uniquegreen ‘Urban Valley’ and creates a natural mood of modern Chinese Aesthetics.

杭州经典山水文化将与西湖区未来的创新氛围在此相遇，相得益彰，团队将助力杭州，造就一片“全国科技源头创新高地”、一个“TOD杭州特色的中国典范”。

Hangzhou's classic landscape tradition willcomplement the future innovation atmosphere of the West Lake District. A"national highland of scientific and technological source innovation"and an "Education + R&D model of TOD Hangzhou characteristics"planned by the Team will perform highly and sustainably for Hangzhou.
